Only a couple weeks ago, on April 12, 2023, Washington State University held their annual #CougsGives fundraiser. I took the initiative to sign up as an ambassador and spread the word of the fundraiser for a whole week before the day of giving. In this fundraiser, students complete challenges, post to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., and ask others to do the same to raise awareness of the different organizations who are looking for help to raise money for their specific departments. While these organizations range from Greek Life, to major departments, to smaller groups on campus, I was fortunate enough to help raise funds for the Digital Technology and Culture (DTC) department. Our goal was to raise enough money to create a wonderful opportunity for DTC students to travel abroad to Berlin, Germany during the summer of 2024.

I worked with Jessica Fernandez to create posts specific to Berlin, Germany to gather support for the Digital Technology and Culture study abroad trip. We were able to raise $225 from four separate gifts, which is over $100 more than we raised last year.

The posts I and other DTC students posted include links to the donation page, links to become an ambassador, and links to the main #CougsGive page for people to learn more about what this fundraiser is all about. Below I will include graphics that I created for students to post during the week of April 5th, 2023 to April 12th, 2023.

I found images online from Pixabay and made sure to credit the photographer via their Pixabay profile page URL and the photos URL as well. As a Digital Technology and Culture major, I know crediting is important even when we are using "Free to use" images and music. To list right now, I used one image from Corinna Lichtenberg and one image from Couleur, both profiles and images located on Pixabay.

After finding this image and noting down the photographers profile, name, and image, I added text to appeal to the #CougsGive fundraiser. I am pleased with my result.

After finding this image, and deeming it fit for the Berlin, Germany study abroad fundraiser, I wrote down the photographers information, profile, and name to credit in my later posts. I was also able to create another basic, to the point visual for the social media posts.

I had a good time posting and seeing the funds increase on April 12th, 2023. It was so exciting to see how many people wanted to support the DTC department and send students to a once in a lifetime opportunity to Berlin, Germany.
